The Guilty Pleasures?

The Guilty Pleasures?

We all have them. Those things that we really love but are worried others might think they are really embarrassing or just sad. Whether it is indulging in a whole tub of ice cream to yourself whilst watching America's Next Top Model. Or watching Bridget Jones's Diary for the millionth time just to watch Mark Darcy in his favourite Reindeer Jumper. It is those little things that you love to do but ultimately you have a worry that somebody else might be puzzled by your actions, and for that reason you feel guilty about them. At the end of the day you should never feel guilty about something you enjoy to do and that makes you happy (obviously there are limits). So instead of feeling a little worried that someone might find out or think you are a bit weird, just embrace it as being your little thing that you love to do. Without further a do, here are some of mine.

1. Despite it always getting constant attacks and rumours of having exaggerated and false articles, I love to read the Daily Mail Online. At some point each day I will get it up on my phone and read different articles, usually involving Z list celebrities. I know it is not the most well educated newspaper but I just enjoy looking through the articles and viewing pictures.

2. I like to eat plain pasta with tomato sauce (ketchup). Over the years I have become more and more secretive whilst making this because it tastes so good but everybody comments on how weird and boring it is. It tastes so good with a sprinkle of cheese on top. I never have it as a main meal, either as a lazy lunch or a small snack, seriously it tastes delicious.

3. Watching episodes of The Real Housewives of.... New York, Beverly Hills, Vancouver, whichever place I love to watch them. It basically is a trashy television show with women who have way to much money and spend it on ridiculous things. I think it is fascinating how people spend there money (when they have a lot of it) and believe me some of these women have actual rooms just for there shoes. It is a ridiculous show that nobody ever wants to watch, but I secretly love it because it is just so extreme and a lifestyle I could never imagine.

4. I listen to old school cheesy music whilst I go running. Songs by the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, S Club 7, you know the music I mean. This is something I do kind of feel embarrassed about so that is why I decide to listen to it whilst I am running where nobody will disturb me. I could never listen to this on the train or out and about, because I get terrified I might bump into somebody and they will ask me what I am listening to (it has happened before). It feels so bloody good though to listen to this sort of music every so often because it is uplifting and reminds me of being young. Some of the classics for me are Love Shack, 9 to 5 and Macarena.

5. Pyjamas are my favourite clothes to wear. Forget the sexy LBD that makes you feel like a confident woman, I like the comfort of my pyjamas. I think this has something to do with I never feel like I have to impress anybody with pyjamas, if your going to work, or getting ready for a night out, you make some effort into your appearance. In my pyjamas I could not care less because I am cosy and warm and at my happiest. For me there is nothing nicer than coming home from work and getting in my dressing gown and pyjamas. I have no shame.

6. On days where I have nothing to do and no plans to see people, I like to experiment with different make up looks. Make up is something that I really wish I could get right each time, but due to me being incredibly clumsy and easily distracted it is easy to make a perfect cat flick into a panda eye. So when I want to try a new make up look, I will trial run it beforehand. For example doing a smokey eye for a night out if I had never attempted it before, there is no way I would just be able to do it without any experience and therefore end up looking like I have 2 punched eyes. When I have a day off I can experiment with different make up looks and see what suits me and looks good.

Those are just a few of my guilty pleasures that I wanted to share with you. I think ultimately I never feel really guilty about doing them, but there are elements that I find embarrassing.

If you feel like sharing let me know if you have any guilty pleasures in the comments!

Have a great Wednesday!

  2. I love this post! I'm with you 100% on the pyjamas, why would anyone not wear the comfiest clothes they own most of the time? haha:) And I just wouldn't be able to do my makeup for a night out without it being pre-planned & practiced haha!

I really want to do a post on my guilty pleasures :)
