January To Do List 2015

January To Do List 2015

Firstly let me begin by saying I hope you all had a Happy New Year! To be honest with you I could have easily have gone to bed at about 11pm and slept right through but I did actually celebrate it and it was a fun evening. Continuing on this year is my to do lists for each month where I write down what I want to get sorted this month before it ends. I always find for myself that I make a lot of lists but struggle to always get everything completed on them. I type these up in the hope that they will encourage me to get them done, but firstly to see how I got on from the December To Do List.

December To Do List Debrief

Try A New Exercise- I managed to give this a go, I picked Yoga as one to start off with and have really been enjoying it. One thing that did strike me at first was how shaky my muscles were to begin with because I guess I was using muscles I do not usually, so any move to do with balancing would end with me as a big heap on the floor. But I am slowly getting used to it and it is actually really relaxing to do.

Watch A New TV Series- At the beginning of the month I started watching Homeland the first season and really enjoyed it. Throughout this month though being able to have the time to watch TV was limited due to all of the Christmas celebrations that were going on and when I did watch anything it was usually something festive. However now I have a little more time on my hands to continue on watching the other seasons. Breaking Bad is another show that I want to watch next.

Make A New Header- December also took up a lot of my time for blogging because I decided to blog every day throughout, a whole 31 posts were done and I honestly can say that it is a lot of hard work. Meaning that my time was focused on the content of the posts and planning each one, so my blog designing took the back seat. I actually have been quite productive today and managed to start designing it, so hopefully my blog will look a little different towards the end of the week with a fresh new look.

Get Christmasy- Totally excelled in this completely and felt like Christmas from the first day of December. Although it is a little sad to all be over now, I cannot help but feel that things will just go back to normal and be a bit more chilled out. Especially if you just want to do a bit of shopping and hate waiting in long queues. Still have my Christmas decorations up at the moment until next week and that will feel a little sad when I do take them down.

Be Merry and Enjoy 2014- As with any ending of a year I try to make as many lasting memories I can before it ends. Of course you should make memories for every day of the year, but when a new year begins most of us have a feeling of beginning again. Seeing a new year begin is part of your life journey and your individual history. I tried to make the most of it with as many family and friends I could but all in all just enjoyed it.

Now here is my list of things to do for January.

January To Do List

Instagram More
As with any sort of social media it takes me a little while to get into and fully understand what it all means and how to use it properly. Recently Instagram has been something I love to look at, I love looking at different photographs taken by people all over the world. You can type in any hash tag you want and find something related to it, so some of my favourites are looking at travelling or food. Some photos are absolutely incredible and I love that there is a photo sharing programme that allows you to see such amazing pictures. For me personally I spend time on it but only now and again post a picture and I want to change that a little bit so that I can share more of what I see. My username is notesofpetranella if you want to have a browse. Feel free to leave your own link for me to have a look at too.

Listen To New Music
I get set in my ways, I hardly ever make new playlists or download new music and therefore find myself listening to the same old stuff every time I get my headphones out (speaking of which I need to remind myself to get some new ones). When I am at home it is usually YouTube that I use as my main place to listen to music. But that is never convenient for when I am on the go or on a train some place, I make a mental note every time to update it, but then once I have stopped listening I forget about doing it. What I think I need to sign up for is something like Spotify or even just downloading a few new albums, I am just sick of my current music on my phone especially and find myself putting it on shuffle and skipping 100 songs until I find one I feel like hearing. Have any of you got Spotify?

Make Bread
My interest in cooking has really increased over the past few months and I feel like I want to at least excel with making basic things. Bread is something a lot of us eat but I love the idea of making my own, and not just in a bread maker, actually creating it by hand. I am a big lover of The Great British Bake Off and I love how they make such incredible things. The last time I made bread was back in secondary school and all I remember is that you had to keep kneading the bread. The main reason why I want to try this out is because I want to incorporate my own flavours, so hopefully if I get a spare afternoon free I can attempt at making some freshly baked bread. If I manage to get it done and tasting good then a future recipe post might be up.

Catch Up On EastEnders
Haha this is a bit of a silly one, but one that I personally need to be up to date with. Over the Christmas holidays, either I was too busy with family or going out that I missed all of the EastEnders episodes. For those of you who watch soaps avidly, then you might understand how I feel when you really want to know what has happened and have about 5 episodes to watch. Although saying that I already know a lot of what happened because of spoilers on Twitter. The rest of my family are not EastEnders fans so I had no opportunity of watching it whilst it was on. So I will be spending a few late nights catching up on BBC iPlayer in the next few days.

Print Photos
As nowadays a lot of the pictures I take are for my blog, and everything is mainly all digital, I always miss just having a real life photo in my hand. It is a bit of a tradition with me that in the new year I get actual copies printed of photos from the year just gone and make a photo album. The great thing about doing this, is that not only is it great if you want to look back on, or heavens forbid you lose all of your files on your computer. But for me when people come round that have not seen me for a while they love to get stuck in and look at what I have been up to. I do not have a Polaroid camera or anything like that so I rely on photo printing websites to help me out and usually they have great deals if you have a lot printed in one time.

These are just a small list of things I would like to be able to tick off at the end of the month. January always feels a bit of a slow start to the year, ultimately people can tend to feel a little gloomy and not have much to look forward to, but I think just staying focused on what you need to get done is important. Set little goals to focus on gives you that motivation you might be lacking. Blog posts will resume to me posting regularly but not every day, I did not realise how tough it is posting every day, so to those of you who do, I applaud you!.

Are there any things that you want to get sorted this month? Let me know in the comments!

Hope you had a lovely New Year's Day!

  1. If you are looking for new music check out James Bay if you haven't already - I love him. My favourite band are called Civil Twilight and are definitely worth a listen (people tend to prefer their second album. It's more upbeat!) I'm sorting out lots of instagram photos to be printed at the moment - I can't deal with bare white walls any longer!

  5. I need to print my photos... printing out last year's photos sounds like a great idea - I think I'm going to do that soon! I want to watch breaking bad - I've seen a few episodes here and there but really want to sit down and watch it from start to finish!

  6. The photo album idea is such a good one! I didn't take very many photos at all last year, but maybe this year I'll try to get enough to make an album next year. Making bread is really fun too- I did a post about making a goats cheese and fig loaf during GBBO time and it was so delicious, I really want to make it again! And as for listening to new music, I need to do that too- I'm rubbish at taking the time to find anything new. I generally let my brother and sister do it for me and just listen to whatever they recommend haha :)

  10. Yes I love James Bay! He was a more recent discovery for me and I love his voice, I haven't heard of Civil Twilight before so I will definitely give them a listen! Thanks for the recommendations :) I am the same, any plain space on my wall I want it covered with photos! Elle x

  11. Yea I kind of felt drawn to it because it does not involve energetic running or fast paced exercise, I just find it relaxing, really difficult to begin with but I guess the more you do it the more your body adjusts :) Elle x

  14. Yes I am the same! Breaking Bad has so many episodes it makes me feel a little daunted by it all, but I just want to find some time where I can get into it, yes definitely recommend printing out your photos, I am always amazed at how many I take within a year! Elle x

  15. Yes definitely give it a go! I love having all my photos from that year combined and I get to have something in my hands to look at rather than just looking on my laptop. Now that you have a blog you are more likely to take pictures I find, especially from places you have been :) I will have to check out your recipe then because that sounds delicious! I love goats cheese! Elle x
