Classic Hummus Recipe

Hummus is one of my favourite foods, it is my favourite sandwich filling and my favourite savoury dip. Basically I love hummus and am regularly eating it, even more so since I became vegan. It is such a simple thing to make at home and easily adaptable to your individual taste. So here is my classic hummus recipe.

You Will Need
200g Chickpeas (1 tin)
1-2 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 Clove of Garlic
2 tsp of Tahini
3 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt
Paprika (optional)

This recipe makes for one person and lasts me a few days, but you can easily double the ingredient amounts if you were making it for more people.

Classic Hummus Recipe
I use tinned chick peas in water, I drain and rinse them before using but you can always cook your own too. Using a blender I just pop all of the ingredients in and slowly blend until it creates a smooth mixture.
Seasoning will be your good friend here, I already like to use paprika, but you will need to season it with salt to your own taste. The same with the lemon juice, I usually only like a small amount of lemon because I hate it being too acidic but you might find you want to add more.

After it has blended all together, simple pop into a small bowl and serve or pop in the fridge. I buy these vegetable crisps and love dipping them into this hummus, it is such a perfect snack before dinner.

The great thing about hummus is that it is the perfect food to be experimental with, I often roast some peppers and add it in with the rest of these hummus ingredients and it makes a much sweeter hummus. It is so easy to make and find what you like best.
